And for more than 90 years our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection.

Job Description

Founded by The Allstate Corporation in 2016, Arity is a data and analytics company focused on improving transportation. We collect and analyze enormous amounts of data, using predictive analytics to build solutions with a single goal in mind: to make transportation smarter, safer, and more useful for everyone. At the heart of that mission are the people that work here—the dreamers, doers and difference-makers that call this place home. As part of that team, your work will showcase both your intelligence and your creativity as you tackle real-world problems and put your talents towards transforming transportation. That’s because at Arity, we believe work and life shouldn’t be at odds with one another. After all, we know that your unique qualities give you a unique perspective. We don’t just want you to see yourself here. We want you to be yourself here. Arity is fully remote, so you can be here while being at home or else take your laptop around the country and work from a new place every week!

At Arity, analytics is at the heart of what we do. We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our incredible Insurance Analytics team. The Data Scientist will join a team of data scientists and data engineers to help the team derive value from our most tremendous asset – data. The successful candidate will create models and find new signal from our wealth of telematics, insurance, and other third-party data sources. This person will ideate and follow through with analytical approaches that support our team products. To do so, they will fully utilize their data science skills, their coding expertise, and their unique point-of-view.

The day-to-day work of a Data Scientist include:

  • Creating and deploying models and/or supporting existing models in market

  • Exploring new data sources to create novel predictors of driving risk and other insurance metrics

  • Working closely with data engineers and actuaries to refine product offering

  • Establishing and following data science best practices including peer review, code review, documentation, coding standards, and ensuring reproducibility and compliance

  • Expanding their data science skillset through development opportunities and learning innovative tools and techniques

We are looking for a team member that has the following traits:

  • 2 or more years of experience applying data science and analytics techniques to solve business problems. More qualified candidates will be considered for a more senior position.

  • Insurance industry experience is desired but not required.

  • A background in data science, analytics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or related fields.

  • Experience creating statistical or machine learning models for business

  • Thorough understanding of how to work efficiently with large, complex data

  • Excellent coding skills in Python or R. SQL/Spark experience is a plus.
