GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store, as well as overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They also maintain proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness, and execute operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritizes safety, practicing safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, and cash office security.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensures customer safety through accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems regularly and responds to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance according to dress code.
- Keeps store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards, teaching and supervising staff accordingly.
- Receives merchandise trucks as needed.
- Processes merchandise with urgency.
- Manages inbound deliveries and maintains stockroom organization.
- Assists with merchandise delivery and placement on the sales floor.
- Secures and processes back-stock according to policy.
- Manages merchandising of departments and back stock, reducing damage loss.
- Follows presentation guidelines and manages floor moves and signage.
- Performs re-wraps as necessary.
Loss Prevention:
- Follows Loss Prevention programs, maintains a strong customer service presence, and engages with customers and staff to prevent loss.
- Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintains PVM system and conducts package inspections.
- Maximizes productivity and minimizes steps and touches during work.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Executes best practices at the front end, ensuring standards are met.
- Maintains pace and presence, managing lines and customer flow.
- Trains and coaches associates on register procedures and shortage controls.
- Controls break schedules and ensures equipment functionality.
- Maintains supplies and recovery in the front end area.
- Ensures merchandise is properly scanned, tagged, and ticketed.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audits and accounts for garment tags per policy.
- Ensures returned merchandise is ticketed, scanned, and security tagged.
Administrative Duties:
- Manages cash pulls and deposits per policy.
- Controls front end operations, including refunds, approvals, and cash security.
- Handles payroll administration and reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Must be able to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and lift over 25 lbs as needed.
