General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the Store and overall store operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and executing company processes.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security
- Secure the building, control entrance/exit, check EAS devices, and oversee security systems
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency egress
- Ensure customer safety, report accidents, and respond to emergencies
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness; recognize associates appropriately
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to dress code
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard
- Manage daily trash removal
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards
- Receive and process merchandise promptly
- Manage inbound deliveries and stockroom organization
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines
- Handle floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed
Loss Prevention:
- Follow loss prevention programs, maintain a visible presence, and safeguard assets
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information
- Maintain PVM system, conduct package inspections, and maximize productivity
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards and efficiency
- Manage line pace and customer wait times
- Train and coach front-end associates on procedures
- Control break schedules and equipment functionality
- Maintain supplies and ensure merchandise security at the front
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms
- Audit tags and ensure return procedures are followed
Administrative Duties:
- Conduct cash pulls and deposits per policy
- Manage front-end controls and adhere to policies on refunds, tills, and scheduling
- Handle payroll tasks and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills for retail
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
Physical Requirements / ADA
Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk extensively, and lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to work in stockrooms and handle merchandise as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads where applicable.
