General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific store area, general operations, and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise Associates, ensure merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean environment. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety; practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, monitor EAS devices, manage security systems, and oversee safety procedures.
- Ensure clear egress to emergency exits and handle emergency procedures.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Show courtesy and professionalism; recognize associates.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent the company brand; maintain a professional appearance.
- Keep store areas clean and merchandised to standard; manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow standards.
- Receive merchandise, process it with urgency, and organize stockrooms.
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs; maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
- Safeguard confidential info and merchandise; monitor PVM systems.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize productivity; ensure associates follow standards at the Front End.
- Manage line pace, train associates on register procedures, control break schedules, and ensure equipment functionality.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and security of fitting rooms; ensure proper tagging and return of garments.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems; basic math skills.
- Availability for evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Operate store equipment; stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lbs regularly; push/pull heavier loads occasionally.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads.
