General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store, as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
  • Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates.
Personal and Store Brand:
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per Dress Code; ensure Associates do the same.
  • Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards; teach and supervise tasks.
  • Manage merchandise receipt, processing, and organization.
  • Assist with merchandising and back-stock management.
  • Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention:
  • Follow Loss Prevention programs; maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
  • Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
  • Maintain PVM system; conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
  • Execute best practices; manage Front End operations and staff.
  • Train and coach Associates on registers and policies.
  • Control break schedules, equipment, and supplies.
Fitting Rooms:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of Fitting Rooms.
  • Audit and manage returned merchandise according to policy.
Administrative Duties as Assigned:
  • Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager.
Competencies:
  • Manage Work Processes, Business Acumen, Planning, Talent Building, Collaboration, Leadership, Communication, Accountability.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic math and work evenings/weekends.
Physical Requirements/ADA:

Ability to use Store equipment, stand/walk for long periods, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and work in various physical conditions. Specific requirements for Stockroom shifts are also noted.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
