We are seeking an experienced Area Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of construction activities across one or more active project areas. The successful candidate will provide visible leadership in the field, coordinate daily operations, and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, and regulatory requirements. This role will involve managing multiple work fronts, resolving site issues, and maintaining strong communication with project leadership, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating daily construction activities; monitoring progress against the project schedule; allocating labour, equipment, and materials effectively; and ensuring that resources are available when required. You will supervise foremen, subcontractors, and site personnel, promote a collaborative and accountable working environment, and verify that workmanship meets required standards. The role will also require reviewing method statements, permits, inspection records, and quality documentation, while identifying potential risks and implementing practical corrective actions. You will contribute to progress reporting, forecasting, change management, cost control, and the resolution of technical or operational constraints.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a site-based supervisory or construction management position, ideally overseeing complex projects or multiple disciplines. A strong understanding of construction methods, health and safety legislation, quality assurance processes, and project controls is essential. Relevant technical qualifications, trade certification, or a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field will be advantageous. You should be confident reading technical drawings and schedules, using standard project management systems, and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safe, respectful, and sustainable working practices are essential.
