Job description

Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking an Area Sales Manager to join their Food and Beverage Division based out of our Sauk Village, Il location.

This position is remote. In this role you will be reporting to the Regional Sales Manager and will be responsible for developing existing customers’ sales and implementing new customer sales for growth while collaborating with its peers, including sales management, regional sales, marketing, manufacturing and research development groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Development & Market Expansion

  • Initiate sales contacts, research customer needs, and present tailored product and service solutions.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in alignment with divisional goals and strategies.
  • Conduct market research to monitor emerging trends and recommend strategic actions to management.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective customers in designated target markets.
  • Maintain and grow existing customer accounts by developing service plans and call schedules.
  • Follow up on sales leads, conduct individual and joint customer visits, and initiate sample or quote requests.
  • Write and present compelling supply proposals tailored to customer needs.
  • Address customer feedback and complaints promptly, documenting and reporting issues for resolution.

Collaboration, Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with internal teams and channel partners to share market intelligence and align sales efforts.
  • Communicate with customer and market needs to support cross-functional project teams.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to promote the business and gather insights.
  • Submit monthly progress updates and call reports, highlighting key developments and opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a role that required you to identify and pursue sales opportunities, close deals, and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • 3+ years of experience building long-term client relationships in a business-to-business (B2B) environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a role that required cultivating and nurturing client relationships, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to track sales activity, customer interactions, and sales pipeline.
  • Able to travel as required to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and oversee sales activities within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with a preference for Business, Marketing, Packaging Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in the packaging industry, with a preference for supporting perishable food products
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with internal teams (e.g., production, logistics, sales support) to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
  • 3+ years of experience in a role that required knowledge of packaging machinery, material types, and processes in the plastic packaging industry.
  • This position requires travel
  • You must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel purposes.

Compensation range: $100,000 to $150,000. The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
