Job summary

Brayman Construction in Baltimore, MD is seeking a full-time Area Safety Representative to join our growing team. The role supports field projects across the Baltimore-Washington-Northern Virginia-Pennsylvania area, promoting a proactive safety culture and training.

Reporting to the Corporate Safety Director, you will conduct safety training, assess hazards, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies while traveling to multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of safety experience in general construction, preferably civil infrastructure and heavy highway construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or risk management or related field.
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction safety class or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites in different states.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure compliance with drug testing programs.
  • Develop and conduct safety training at projects (fall protection, confined space, PPE, first aid/CPR, etc.).
  • Review and modify site-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure jobsite compliance with Federal, State, Local Regulations and Corporate Policies.
  • Lead incident investigations and document findings; develop lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform site safety inspections (tools, cords, hazards, PPE) and manage PPE orders and training.

Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Area Safety Representative to join our growing team. This position is based in Baltimore, MD and will be supporting and assisting projects in the Baltimore - Washington, Northern Virginia, and Pennsylvania area.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AREA SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE

The Area Safety Representative will foster and maintain a proactive approach to safety, promoting an employee-centered safety culture. Reporting directly to the Corporate Safety Director, this role will support and assist the field workforce by conducting safety training, assessing jobsites for hazards, and implementing corrective measures.


Summary of Area Safety Representative Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure compliance with site drug testing program
  • Develop and conduct training as needed at the project, including, but not limited to, fall protection, confined space, personal protective equipment, first aid/CPR, signal person, and Hazard Communication
  • Write review and modify site-specific safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure jobsite compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
  • Lead incident investigation efforts & document findings, and assist in developing lessons learned to help prevent recurrence.
  • Job site safety inspections (inspection of power tools, cords, hazards, etc.)
  • PPE inspections, order, replace, and administer training

Summary of Area Safety Representative Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Seeking a detail-oriented, excellent communicator with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and take initiative
  • Candidate must be willing to accept travel to the job sites
  • The Site Safety Representative must have a comfortable working/teaching knowledge of the following: Hazard Communication, Use of P.P.E., First-Aid/CPR & AED, Trench Shoring, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA Regulations, Forklift, Silica, and Mobile Cranes.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), PowerPoint, and other related computer software

Area Safety Representative Required Education & Experience:

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life‑threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around chemicals, which require a government permit, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
