Sappi Somerset, part of Sappi North America, seeks an engineering-led supervisor for Utilities and Recovery to lead safe, efficient production with minimal intervention. The role emphasizes safety, coaching, and development of operations teams in a highly regulated environment.

You will oversee process monitoring via PI and Proficy, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with OSHA and labor agreements while targeting budgeted performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Understanding of Power Boilers, Turbine generators, Black Liquor Evaporators and Concentrator systems, Recovery Boilers, Lime Kiln, Recaust, and Water Treatment is required.
• Maine Stationary Steam Engineers License.
• Computer knowledge – background in Microsoft suite, Proficy, PI, SAP etc is preferred.
• Understanding of human relations and supervision in an organized labor environment.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results personally and through others.

Responsabilités

• Supervise Utilities and Recovery Department operations teams to maintain a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation.
• Lead, coach, and supply team members with the tools to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
• Assure a safe work environment and enforce OSHA requirements and internal rules.
• Routinely conduct safety meetings with crews.
• Facilitate on-shift process improvement to reduce variability, increase uptime, and minimize costs.
• Utilize the PI system and Proficy for operations monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Aim to meet or exceed operating budgets.
