Job summary

Stake Center Locating, Inc. is seeking an Area Manager, Locate to lead field teams in underground utility locating operations. You will oversee workload distribution, drive customer relations, coordinate with Corporate, and manage IT, purchasing, and field safety. You will also conduct performance reviews and guide staff toward improved results.

The role requires interaction with homeowners, the public, contractors, and utility representatives, with occasional travel and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership experience in the locating industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of underground utility construction and placement.
• Ability to complete Locate Technician training and testing.
• Must be available for long hours, weekends, and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of workload distribution and scheduling.
• Maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Corporate on activities.
• Oversee IT, purchasing, and interactions with homeowners and the public.
• Oversee disciplinary actions and staff performance.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment and manage inventory orders.
• Mentor supervisors and support performance improvement.
• Assist in damage resolution and reporting.
• Interpret reports (PDR, audits, production) and ensure accuracy.
• Assist in difficult locate jobs and maintain staffing levels.
