Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com in Bremerton, WA seeks an Area Manager to oversee projects from planning through delivery. You will serve as the primary contact for customers and drive independent analysis, complex planning, and new methods to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.

Responsibilities include coordinating with planning, estimating, production and contracts, managing 3–5 staff, and ensuring adherence to safety and PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a related field or AA/AS with 2 years directly related experience or 4 years directly related experience
• Minimum four years of shipboard repair experience, preferably in a public or private shipyard
• Minimum four years’ experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; able to navigate server environments
• Experience with Cost Type or Fixed Type contracts is a plus
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willing to use a business rider
• Able to access government facilities and obtain a security clearance after employment
• Willing to work nights/weekends; travel to remote locations for extended periods
• Must wear PPE as required

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the project from planning through final milestone delivery
• Develop proposals, estimates, and schedules with Planning
• Delegate responsibilities to Assistant Area Managers and coordinate with Senior Leadership
• Facilitate regular cross-functional Project Team meetings with internal and customer representatives
• Create and manage detailed task lists and resource allocation plans
• Identify changes in scope and renegotiate contracts/budgets as needed
• Provide leadership to resolve schedule/production conflicts
• Oversee a team of 3 to 5 personnel
