Job summary

Ruppert Landscape is seeking an Area Manager to lead sales, renewals, and production for a branch portfolio. You will oversee supervisors, drive enhancement work, and ensure customer satisfaction. Develop field staff, recruit staff, and manage project workloads while coordinating with peers to meet branch goals.

You will manage budgets, cost controls, and bid takeoffs, while maintaining safe operations and a strong branch image. English communication and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage others on production level, including recruiting, hiring, performance evaluation, and training.
• Knowledge of machinery and trucks used in landscape management.
• Sales and customer service experience with direct client interaction, at least two years.
• Ability to take site measurements and estimate maintenance jobs.
• Experience running more than one project at a time.
• Experience selling enhancement-type work and doing contract maintenance takeoffs.
• Ability to design small landscape projects.
• Basic computer operation knowledge.
• Two or four-year horticultural degrees and two years of industry experience; substitutions allowed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Valid driver’s license with clean three-year record.

Responsibilities

• Communicate philosophies, policies, and procedures to field managers.
• Explain branch goals to supervised staff and monitor progress with reviews.
• Develop field managers and their goals, supporting their development.
• Maintain ongoing recruitment to staff production areas.
• Understand budgets for hours and costs; monitor and report costs.
• Prepare seasonal job packages for assigned jobs.
• Review job aspects with field managers: contracts, margins, and client contacts.
• Monitor service quality via site visits and field reports; sustain renewal rates above 90%.
• Manage sales activity related to renewal of contracts.
• Schedule weekly production activities for crews.
• Monitor AM and PM routines of crews.
• Maintain branch facilities and fleet to reflect company image and safety.
• Prospect for leads and integrate into the branch prospecting system.
