Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Area Manager 1 to oversee complex ship repair and maintenance projects. You will manage multiple work items from planning through delivery, coordinating internal and external teams, and serving as the primary customer liaison.

Hours include early shifts and weekend coverage as required. The role requires a BA/BS in engineering or related field (or equivalent experience), plus experience leading technical personnel and navigating cost/contract

Qualifications

Typically BA/BS in Engineering, CS, Science or related field, or AA/AS plus 2 years related experience, or 4 years related experience.
Prior military service would be considered related experience.
Experience managing technical personnel within complex shipboard availabilities.

Responsibilities

Oversee multiple work items from planning to final milestone and delivery.
Coordinate subcontractors and internal trades to meet schedule objectives.
Represent the company to customers as the point of contact for assigned work items.
Lead cross-functional project team meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop detailed plans to monitor complex work items and assess risks.
