Job summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Area Supervisor, Chemical Manufacturing to join our team.

Position Summary

The Area Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and direction to a team of approximately 12 to 14 shift operators supporting chemical synthesis and purification operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operations while achieving production targets and promoting continuous improvement.

Serving as an important link between management and operating personnel, the Area Supervisor works closely with Area Engineering, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Purchasing, and other support functions to achieve operational objectives.

The successful candidate will be a visible, hands‑on leader who establishes clear expectations, develops employees, promotes accountability, and reinforces Minasolve's commitment to safety and operational excellence.

This position reports to the Area Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Environmental & Operational Compliance

  • Demonstrate visible leadership in support of Minasolve's safety culture by incorporating safety into daily activities, decisions, and employee interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices, environmental requirements, company policies, and applicable requirements within a Process Safety Management (PSM) environment.
  • Promote sustainable housekeeping standards and maintain a safe, organized operating environment.

Production & Operational Leadership

  • Lead shift operations to safely meet or exceed established production, quality, and operating objectives.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and routinely monitor results through direct observation, area walkthroughs, and operating data.
  • Provide second‑level troubleshooting support to operators to identify and correct manufacturing process issues.
  • Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including shutdowns, repairs, startups, and return‑to‑service activities.
  • Support reliable operations by coordinating the availability of raw materials and consumables, including purchasing requirements and inter‑plant transfers.
  • Build a high‑performance culture through visible leadership, coaching, teamwork, communication, and accountability.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop operating personnel while ensuring adherence to company performance and conduct standards.
  • Develop and execute operator training and qualification plans that support both immediate business requirements and the long‑term capability of the operating team.
  • Address performance or conduct concerns and administer corrective action in accordance with company policy when appropriate.
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling requirements for continuous 24/7 manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and support opportunities to improve safety, reliability, productivity, efficiency, and overall operating performance.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect current operating practices and develop procedures for new or modified processes.
  • Monitor and communicate key operating performance measures, including process yields, inventory, energy usage, overtime, and other operational metrics.
  • Prepare clear work instructions, operating plans, and daily or weekly performance reports.
Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead production personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical or mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing immediate operational requirements with longer‑term production needs.
  • Experience planning and coordinating manufacturing shutdowns, startups, maintenance activities, and continuous operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear work instructions, procedures, and performance summaries.

Education

  • Technical education or training with an emphasis on chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, or related processes is required.
  • Appropriate backgrounds may include a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, Naval Operations experience, trade or technical school education, or comparable technical training.
  • Significant relevant manufacturing and production leadership experience may be considered in lieu of formal technical education.

Preferred

  • Experience with catalytic reactions, hydrogenation, distillation separations, and/or hydrogen reformer operations.
  • Previous experience working in a union environment.
