Job summary

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the Area Logistics Supervisor is to oversee Symbria delivery drivers and courier service(s) to ensure the daily and timely departure of all deliveries. Identify processes and systems that optimize delivery routes or shipping options to control costs across all Symbria Rx Services locations. Establish reporting systems to identify effectiveness and timeliness of deliveries. Maintain community needs of pharmacy equipment including medication cart oversight.

Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Procures and maintains all community equipment supplied by the pharmacy.
  • Oversee the departure of scheduled route, with a focus on consistent on-time departures and deliveries.
  • Act as a liaison between community and pharmacy for delivery-related concerns, displaying professional customer service, and communication skills.
  • Coordinate the training of Symbria drivers.
  • Coordinate the training of all Symbria Direct independent contractors.
  • Assist with the startup of new communities including the delivery and set-up of new medication carts and fax machines.
  • Assist with startup of new pharmacies with route planning, staffing, and training.
  • Correspond with clients, suppliers, and transportation hubs to ensure efficiency with needed supplies.
  • Assure delivery vehicles owned or leased by the company have proper maintenance to allow for safe travel for staff.
  • Track and report quality measures related to deliveries for all pharmacy locations including delivery times, adherence to established routes and vehicle maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair medication carts upon client requests; install and repair fax machines upon client requests.
  • Establish and maintain benchmark supplies for all medication cart repairs.
  • Continually analyze the final staging step/toting step of workflow in the pharmacy to improve maximum effectiveness.
  • Cover principal functions of delivery drivers during staff shortages and PTO needs.
  • Ensure contracted courier compliance to company policy and procedures and contractual terms.
  • Timely review and approval of independent contractors and courier(s) invoices for payment.
  • Responsible for assuring each delivery obtains a signature establishing proof of delivery along with storage in an easily retrievable format for audit purposes.
  • Oversee shipping of packages via company such as UPS, FedEx, etc.
  • Planning and monitoring inbound and outgoing deliveries via in-house shipping processes.
  • Advise and consult other Symbria locations on logistic initiatives or optimizations, including occasional travel to those locations when necessary.
  • Periodically evaluate and advise management on logistic strategies and/or technologies that may improve customer service or decrease costs including determination of the best courier company.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Pharmacy Technician License as per State requirements.
  • Minimum 18 years of age with valid driver's license and a violation free driving record as per the drivers' review requirements.
  • Delivery or logistics experience; minimum three to five years.
  • Managerial experience; minimum one to three years.
  • Knowledge of logistics software benefits and capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to develop and assist team members.
  • Capacity to build and sustain relationships with courier or vendor services.
  • General knowledge, or willingness to learn, of the operation of fax machines and maintenance of medication carts.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic.
  • General computer knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work and lead in a flexible schedule as operational needs dictate, including scheduled nights and weekends, holidays, covering open shifts within the department, or taking off-site phone calls to assist the emergent needs of the department.
