Job summary

Independent Health Association in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Delivery Driver to coordinate and execute next-day delivery services for the Specialty Pharmacy and related company items. This role includes home and provider office deliveries within a defined geographic area, plus warehouse support outside pharmacist duties.

Responsibilities cover delivering with care, logging activities, and maintaining vehicle and warehouse spaces.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year of delivery driving experience with high-dollar or temperature sensitive cargo.
  • Local travel required; valid state driver's license required.
  • Experience with material handling or pharmacy preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent customer service and a professional approach.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate next-day deliveries by organizing the next day's route and ensuring all orders are checked and packaged appropriately.
  • Deliver packages in an accurate and efficient manner while complying with State and Federal motor vehicle regulations.
  • Identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities related to package delivery and shipping.
  • Work with pharmacy staff to ensure that deliveries leave the pharmacy at the appropriate time and are delivered to the designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Maintain delivery log of activities per policy and procedures, which may include checking and/or logging recipient identification.
  • Report status and any clinical questions to the Reliance Rx Pharmacy team or any problems to pharmacy management in a timely manner for pharmacy deliveries and any other delivery problems to the company representative (e.g., IT for equipment delivery).
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain company vehicle in a smoke‑free environment. Clean vehicle inside and out, fueling and reporting any mechanical issues immediately to management.
  • Maintain pharmacy warehouse, unpacking and organizing supply orders.
  • Perform designated tasks regarding processing of equipment and supply orders.
  • Proper rotation of stock, supplies, packaging materials, and shipping supplies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of warehouse space.
  • Function in strict accordance with standard written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.
  • Navigate routes using company provided software and delivery strategies.

Overview

The Delivery Driver will be responsible for coordinating and delivering products. Their regular daily delivery services will be for Independent Health Specialty Pharmacy with delivery to patient homes and provider offices within a defined geographic area. They will also provide delivery and pick-up service for company-issued equipment and/or other company-related delivery services as necessary within their assigned geographic area. This associate will ensure that all deliveries are made in a professional, safe, and efficient manner.

They will also assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department warehouse not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Responsibilities will include stocking shipping supplies, maintaining adequate cleanliness of the registered space, maneuvering pallets, utilizing a pallet stacker with proper training (and strict adherence to relevant policy), assisting with recycling and refuse of materials, loading/unloading of delivery vehicles, and maintaining adequate stock of supplies to be used within the warehouse.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of experience driving for a delivery service with high-dollar or temperature sensitive cargo required.
  • Experience with material handling, packaging or pharmacy preferred.
  • Local travel required. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid state driver's license required. Any Independent Health associate who uses a motor vehicle in the course of their duties representing Independent Health must be compliant with State Motor Vehicle laws and must follow the policy that pertains to Driver's License Requirements as a condition of employment.

Immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position Hiring Compensation Range: $20.50 hourly

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
