Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team leads the state-of-the-art data centers powering its search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager and Area Lead, you will manage a team of Site Leaders and Operations Managers, driving safety, KPIs, and operational excellence across a massive data center portfolio.

You will oversee hardware and software lifecycles, ensure alignment with Cloud and Infrastructure objectives, and build a high-performance culture while balancing OPEX and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of hardware servers and components.
• 3 years of experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
• 3 years of experience developing and managing managers.
• Experience with Linux and developing network architecture.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and hire a distributed team of Site Leaders to drive operational consistency, safety, and KPIs.
• Oversee the hardware and software lifecycle, including installation and maintenance; align data center priorities with Cloud and Infra.
• Drive efficiency and optimize resource allocation across the Area.
• Foster cross-functional partnerships with DCOps, Networking, Safety, Construction, and Security.
• Host site visits and engage with Government Affairs during milestones.
