Job summary

Hudbay seeks a Chief Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Engineer to lead the USBU Copper World and Mason projects, directing geotechnical and hydrogeological work through feasibility to detailed engineering and operations. You’ll oversee advanced modeling, water management, and field data collection while collaborating with geology and mine planning teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geochemistry, Mining, Civil, or Geotechnical engineering.
• 12+ years of mining, consulting, and regulatory experience.
• Licensed professional engineer or geologist (AZ or NV) or eligibility.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
• Experience with saturated flow modeling (MODFLOW/FEFLOW) and Water Balance.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical and hydrogeological programs across Copper World and Mason projects.
• Develop and review conceptual/site models and groundwater flow models.
• Oversee water budgets, dewatering strategies, and groundwater containment.
• Coordinate drilling campaigns, contractor relations, and RFP processes.
• Provide structural support design and QA/QC on field data and reports.
• Manage budgets and external consultants; interface with clients and agencies.
