Job summary

Hamilton Hotel Washington, D.C. is seeking an Area Director of People & Culture to oversee day-to-day HR across two DC properties.

You will manage recruitment, employment, benefits, training, recognition, counseling and colleague relations, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and company policies. The role leads onsite HR teams, drives wage analysis, supports payroll processes, onboarding and off-boarding, and partners with leadership to foster a culture-driven employee experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Hospitality, or related field required or equivalent experience.
• PHR/SPHR certification preferred but not required.
• Experience leading HR in hospitality settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure knowledge of employment law and HR policies.
• Advise leadership on employee relations and open-door policy.
• Develop and oversee recruitment and hiring strategy.
• Direct records-keeping and data management.
• Create training initiatives including new hire orientation.
• Support employee life cycle from onboarding to off-boarding.
• Understand payroll processes and budget adherence.
• Establish wage analysis workflows to stay competitive.
• Oversee off-boarding and final pay compliance.
• Be primary contact for workers' compensation and safety.
• Advise GM and corporate on employee relations.
• Manage onsite HR teams.
