Job summary

O-I is seeking an Area Environmental Specialist to drive environmental excellence across multiple manufacturing facilities, partnering with plant leadership to ensure compliance and advance sustainability programs.

You will conduct audits, identify risks, and support regulatory inspections while coaching facility leadership on best practices. The role involves travel and collaboration across sites to strengthen environmental management systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, EHS, or a related field - REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, Title V permitting, and related environmental programs.
  • Proven ability to lead environmental initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and collaborate with teams at all plant level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste management, and sustainability programs.

  • Support regulatory inspections, environmental reporting, and agency interactions.
  • Track environmental performance metrics and sustainability initiatives.
  • Coach and train facility leadership on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Share best practices and help strengthen environmental management systems across the organization.

Job Description

The Area Environmental Specialist will help drive environmental excellence across multiple manufacturing facilities. In this highly visible role, you'll partner with plant leadership teams to ensure environmental compliance, reduce risk, advance sustainability initiatives, and support continuous improvement efforts. Additional Information

What we offer at O-I:
Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between$120,000 - $140,000 and includes a possible10% short-term incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law
