Job summary

Catholic Charities Diocese of Springfield Illinois is seeking a dynamic Area Director to lead day-to-day operations, supervise staff, and strengthen community relations across central Illinois. The role includes budgeting input, donor engagement, and collaborating with the area advisory board to advance programs and services.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and at least three years of supervisory experience, with strong initiative and flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a closely related human service field, plus a minimum of three years experience in supervision.
• Ability to pass all required tests and work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the area office and programs.
• Supervise all staff including therapists, child welfare specialists, and maintenance staff.
• Develop community relations with United Way, DCFS, courts, police, and social service agencies.
• Keep the Director of Operations informed of problems, progress, and needs.
• Ensure timely completion of required program documentation.
• Make recommendations on personnel actions according to agency policies.
• Assist in annual budget planning and monthly monitoring with the area advisory board.
• Assess community needs and plan/deliver outreach and fundraising activities.
• Help develop new programs and expanded services under Executive Director.
