Job summary

Southern Company Gas in Georgia/Tennessee seeks a Construction Area Manager to lead frontline leaders overseeing construction management, inspection teams, and service providers for large-scale projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Required: HSD or GED, Driver's License.
• Preferred: BA/BS degree in construction management or business, engineering.
• Preferred: PMP or PMI-CP, CWI, CPWI.
• Required: 8 years of experience industrial or utility construction or operations, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
• Preferred: experience in construction contract creation, RFP bidding/awarding, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of gas infrastructure construction equipment and techniques, inspection, welding non-destructive examination, directional drilling, OSHA standards, and PHMSA regulations.
• Experience in stage-gated asset development processes, budgeting, estimating, scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction projects and inspection teams within a regional area.
• Coordinate with contractors and manage contracts (MSA, SOW).
• Track metrics, cash flows, schedules, and milestones.
• Lead weekly redline and data reviews.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
• Lead sourcing and bidding processes for construction contracts.
