Job summary

Skyland Grain, LLC is seeking an Area Agronomy Operations Manager to oversee profitability and operations of the assigned area’s locations and drive business development with the customer base.

You will lead agronomy operations, manage inventory, train staff, ensure safety, and present reports while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Basic computer operation skills.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Agriculture industry and sales experience required.
  • Valid driver's license; Commercial driver's license preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the overall agronomy operations of the area’s locations in accordance with the Company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for generating sales and increasing profits at the locations.
  • Manages location’s products and services including stocking, inventory control, merchandising, advertising, billing and receipt of payment.
  • Submits accurate location reports in a timely manner.
  • Provides leadership, training and supervision to the locations’ employees.
  • Ensures maintenance, organization and cleanliness of department buildings, equipment and grounds.
  • Responsible for emergency coordination in accordance with company policy and procedure, in the event of an accident or disaster.
  • Represents the Company at local community activities as needed.
  • Prepares and presents safety meetings for locations.
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Area Agronomy Operations Manager is responsible for the overall profitability and operation of the assigned area’s locations and for business development with that area’s customer base. A description of the duties includes:

  • Manages the overall agronomy operations of the area’s locations in accordance with the Company policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for generating sales and increasing profits at the locations;
  • Manages location’s products and services including stocking, inventory (inventory control), reconciling inventory, merchandising, advertising, billing and receipt of payment;
  • Submits accurate location reports in a timely manner;
  • Provides leadership, training and supervision to the locations’ employees;
  • Ensures maintenance, organization and cleanliness of department buildings, equipment and grounds;
  • Responsible for emergency coordination in accordance with company policy and procedure, in the event of an accident or disaster;
  • Represents the Company at local community activities as needed;
  • Prepares and presents safety meetings for locations;
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Present a clean and professional appearance;
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
