Job summary

Republic Services in the United States is seeking an Area Accountant to record, analyze and monitor financial information under general direction. You will prepare financial reports in compliance with company policies and GAAP, acting as a resource for accounting staff across the region.

The role involves compiling journal entries, monthly/quarterly reports, internal controls, audits, and support for budgeting and capital expenditures. Strong Excel and Oracle/GL experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and accounting principles.
• MS Excel at an intermediate level.
• Ability to research non-standard situations to ensure policy compliance.
• Strong interpersonal communication across organization and with external customers and vendors.
• Strong analytical and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly operational performance reports.
• Assists Area Controller in ensuring internal controls and policy compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley and statutory requirements.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts and analyzes financial statements per GAAP and company policy.
• May assist with budgeting, capital expenditures, transfers and retirements.
• Assists with periodic financial audits including internal and external audits.
