Job summary

Employee Relations Associates, Inc. is seeking an Area Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in a large, high-volume organization. The role includes financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audit support.

You will collaborate with teams across accounting, tax, treasury, IT, HR, sales and legal to maintain accurate records and ensure policies are followed.

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with general ledger and accounting systems.
  • Experience with Oracle accounting software.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to investigate nonstandard transactions and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and accurately document business transactions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly operational and financial performance reports.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Area Controller to maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, SOX requirements and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, interim forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Support accounting activities related to capital expenditures, asset transfers and retirements.
  • Assist with internal audits, external audits and peer reviews.
  • Provide accounting guidance and support across functions such as billing, accounts receivable, cash receipts, invoice processing, collections, payroll and credit analysis.
  • Respond to financial information requests from corporate departments and regional leadership.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for accounting and administrative team members.
  • Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed.

This is an exciting direct-hire opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build their career within a large, high-volume organization. The Area Accountant will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

This position offers broad exposure across the accounting function, including financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and audit support.
