Area 2 Coal Reclamation Enforcement Lead

Job summary

Virginia Energy is seeking an Area 2 Enforcement Supervisor to oversee a statewide coal surface mining and reclamation inspection and compliance program in accordance with Virginia's Coal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1979 and agency goals.

Under the direction of the Reclamation Program Manager Area Supervisor, this position provides direct leadership to field inspection staff responsible for monitoring mining and reclamation activities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in mine reclamation, environmental compliance, natural resource conservation, land restoration, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, environmental assessment practices, real property information, grant administration, and construction cost estimating.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate staff engaged in the implementation and administration of Virginia's Coal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Program and Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Program.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to coal mining, reclamation, and environmental protection.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, communicate technical information, and interact effectively with stakeholders, industry representatives, and the public.

• Oversee inspection and compliance activities, directing reclamation enforcement operations.
• Manage employee performance and development.
• Ensure lands affected by coal mining are reclaimed with minimal environmental impact.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with state and federal requirements and promote safety and stewardship.
