Job summary

UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies is looking for a USS Apprentice in Alaska to assist with the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater utility systems. The role includes compliance with regulations and operational tasks across various villages.

The ideal candidate must work outdoors in challenging conditions, lift moderate weights, and maintain accurate logs using Windows software. Successful candidates will receive training and housing support.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow directions and respond to requests from the USS.
• Willingness to study exam preparation materials outside of normal working hours.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Perform operational tasks at small water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Maintain compliance with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) regulations.

Skills

Ability to pass a respirator fit test

Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Good balance and coordination

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
