Job summary

UIC Municipal Services seeks a Roving Service Barrel Technician to support local water and sewer operations by maintaining and repairing residential service barrels in Arctic conditions. This rotational role (3–4 weeks on/2–3 weeks off) includes a 10-hour, 7-days-per-week schedule with housing and per diem provided, and travel from Anchorage or Fairbanks.

You will operate, troubleshoot, and repair service connections; assemble and replace barrel components; manage inventory and work orders; and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• ADEC Water Certification (Provisional or Level 1-2) is required.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license is required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in Arctic conditions.
• Rotational schedule with extended hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot service barrels and exterior carrier piping year-round in Arctic conditions.
• Complete work orders and manage inventory.
• Pre-assemble water service barrel manifolds and replace flow switches and water circulation components.
• Submit purchase orders for water and sewer parts and materials.
• Perform preventive maintenance on wastewater systems under supervision.
• Review, create, and update SOPs for water and sewer service connections.
