Job summary

UIC Government Services and the Bowhead Family of Companies seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the US Coast Guard CEU in Juneau, AK. You will perform mechanical engineering services, technical reviews, and scope development for projects across the D17 AOR, including field investigations and coordination with project teams.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical engineering, ABET-accredited degree, and hands-on AutoCAD experience, plus travel and potential Arctic-site work.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on 5+ years experience with AutoCAD.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Experience with National Building Codes (IBC, IRC) and mechanical sub-disciplines.
• Advanced degrees (Master/PhD) highly preferred.
• PE or related licenses/certifications desirable.
• Experience designing projects in Alaska/arctic locations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide Mechanical engineering services for CEU Juneau in support of project work.
• Provide troubleshooting and guidance to CEU staff and Project Managers.
• Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of studies, reports and analyses.
• Collaborate with managers, engineers, architects, contract staff, and contractors to resolve complex engineering problems.
• Provide technical reviews for project designs including Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build.
• Develop/modify scopes of work and respond to RFIs with CEU Project Manager.
• Provide facility condition assessments and evaluations throughout D17.
• Travel to meet CEU staff and review contract performance; occasional site travel in USCG D17 AOR.
