Job summary

UIC Arctic Response Services, LLC seeks an Arctic Safety Specialist to manage the health, safety, and environmental program across remote Alaska locations and field operations. The role loads data into training databases, maintains records, and reports on all job functions, with time in the field away from home.

The candidate will develop SOPs, train teams, and ensure regulatory and client expectations are met, including field training and risk assessments for projects.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 5 years of experience in remote/extreme weather environments.
  • Experience operating snowmachines and ATVs.
  • Experience working in Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operational safety in Utqiaġvik, remote Alaska locations, and coastal/inland waters.
  • Develop safety standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect facilities for OSHA compliance.
  • Train team members in safe operating protocols.
  • Arrange safety trainings and maintain certifications records.
  • Oversee storage of hazardous goods and shipping/receiving of hazardous materials.
  • Provide Arctic Field Training to clients and staff.
  • Prepare safety reports and updates for clients.
