Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian seeks an archivist to join the Cultural Resources Center in Suitland, MD. This role focuses on archival arrangement, preservation, and description of manuscript, photograph, and audiovisual collections.

You will work with archive management systems such as Archivists’ Toolkit, ArchivesSpace, and Archon to ensure proper cataloging and reference support for researchers.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service.
• Experience with archival arrangement, preservation, and description of manuscript, photo, and AV collections.
• Experience using archive management systems (Archivists’ Toolkit, ArchivesSpace, Archon).
• Experience with AV formats, inspection, cleaning, splicing, rehousing, and describing AV collections.
