Job summary

University of Louisville's Archives & Special Collections seeks an Archival Access & Collections Development Library Assistant IV to promote access to primary source materials for students, staff, researchers, and the public. The role combines reference service, donor relations, and access tooling, including ArchivesSpace, to facilitate discovery and use of rare materials.

The position leads ASC's social media presence, coordinates outreach, assists with exhibits, and mentors student workers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business, computer/information science or related field.
• Experience in an academic library or archival setting preferred.
• Strong research, communication, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with ArchivesSpace or similar archival management tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary virtual reference contact and triage online inquiries.
• Conduct reference interviews in person, by phone, and online.
• Instruct researchers in archival methods and handling of materials.
• As Rare Books registrar, handle donor gifts and accession records.
• Oversee transfer of books to Technical Services and shelving.
• Prepare finding aids and descriptions using controlled vocabularies.
• Lead ASC's social media programs and coordinate outreach campaigns.
• Participate in ASC exhibits planning and outreach events.
• Supervise student employees and coordinate with facilities as needed.
• Assist with promotion and documentation of advancement activities.
