Job summary

General Matter in Los Angeles is seeking an Architectural Engineering Intern to join our Buildings team. You will support integrated building systems design and coordination for large-scale industrial and nuclear facilities.

This role offers hands-on experience with Revit, BIM workflows, and multidisciplinary coordination, with a housing stipend and potential overtime. Ideal for students or grads aiming to work at the intersection of structural, mechanical, and architectural disciplines.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment (Junior or Senior standing) or recent completion of a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering.
• Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with AutoCAD or other BIM/rendering tools is a plus.
• Multidisciplinary mindset with understanding of how structural and mechanical systems interact within a facility.

Responsibilities

• Support facility structural and mechanical design work for large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.
• Assist with the preparation of integrated structural and mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with architectural, civil, electrical, and construction teams to ensure holistic building performance.
• Help coordinate complex structural and mechanical layouts within the building envelope to optimize space and functionality.
• Participate in engineering design reviews and project coordination meetings to track progress and resolve technical interface issues.
• Support high-fidelity BIM modeling using Revit to integrate multidisciplinary designs.
• Assist engineering teams with constructability reviews and design updates to streamline the transition from theory to field.
• Help address field design questions and RFIs during the construction phase when applicable.
