Job description

Architectural Designer / Project Manager

About Circular

Circular is an award-winning multidisciplinary design practice working across architecture, interiors, branding, and experience design.

Our work is grounded in the belief that the built environment can improve everyday life. We design human-centered spaces and systems that support health, happiness, community, and environmental regeneration.

Our approach combines design excellence with a systems-based understanding of sustainability. From material selection and building performance to customer experience and social impact, we look for opportunities to create work that is thoughtful, memorable, and beneficial to the people and communities it serves.

The Role

We are seeking a talented Architectural Designer / Project Manager with at least three years of professional experience to join our New York studio.

This is an opportunity for a designer who wants meaningful responsibility, exposure to projects from concept through construction, and the opportunity to work closely with firm leadership, clients, consultants, and contractors.

You will contribute to all phases of our projects, including research, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, project coordination, and construction administration.

Candidates should be available to begin within approximately 30 days.

What You’ll Work On

Circular works across a diverse range of project types and scales.

Our current work includes public projects through the New York City Department of Design and Construction Design Excellence Program, projects for the New York City School Construction Authority, educational projects for private clients, and ongoing retail work for BMW of North America.

The studio is internationally recognized for work that brings together design excellence, sustainability, and social impact.

What You’ll Do

You will participate in and progressively take ownership of:

  • Conceptual design and design research
  • Design development
  • Revit modeling and project documentation
  • Construction document production
  • Coordination with consultants
  • Client communication and presentations
  • Contractor coordination
  • Construction administration
  • Material, product, and building-system research
  • Project organization and schedule coordination
  • Development of thoughtful, creative, and technically rigorous design solutions

Depending on your experience and interests, there will be opportunities to take increasing responsibility for project design, management, client relationships, and construction.

Professional Development

We invest in developing designers who want to deepen both their design and technical expertise.

Circular will provide paid training toward Passive House Designer certification through the Passive House Institute (PHI).

The position also provides direct exposure to complex institutional and public-sector projects, sustainable building systems, construction documentation, consultant coordination, and project delivery.

Studio Culture

Circular is a design-driven studio with an ambitious, fast-paced, and informal working environment.

We value curiosity, initiative, thoughtful problem-solving, attention to detail, and people who care about the quality and consequences of what they design.

Our multidisciplinary approach means team members are exposed not only to architecture but also to interiors, sustainability, branding, materials, and experience design.

We expect a high level of commitment to our projects and clients while also believing that designers do their best work when they are able to maintain healthy and balanced lives.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A minimum of three years of professional architectural experience
  • A Master of Architecture or five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit & Rhino
  • A strong design portfolio demonstrating both academic and professional work
  • Professional experience producing construction drawings
  • Strong design judgment and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Authorization to work in the United States

A Master of Architecture is preferred but not required for candidates with a five-year professional Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Benefits

Circular offers:

  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid time off
  • Paid Passive House Designer training
  • Opportunities for professional growth and increasing project responsibility
  • Exposure to significant public, institutional, educational, and commercial projects
