Job summary

Inglese Architecture + Engineering in New Jersey seeks a full-time assistant architectural project manager to support design and construction on mixed-use and multi-family projects.

The role involves design development, drafting, 3D visualization, code analysis, meetings with clients and consultants, and coordination with the project team under a PM.

Qualifications

  • BS in Architecture or equivalent required.
  • 0–1 year experience in architecture/engineering; mixed-use/multi-family a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, MS Office and Adobe Design Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; knowledge of building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project context, materials, and precedents.
  • Conceptual and preliminary design of building plans, sections, and elevations.
  • 3D visualization of design concepts via sketching, renderings, and models.
  • Assist in site planning, zoning analysis, and permit applications.
  • Draft details and architectural systems for multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial buildings.
  • Read drawings, technical docs, and schematics.
  • Attend meetings with owners/clients/consultants with PM as needed.
  • Assist in client presentations.
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines.
  • Support construction phase administration and site visits with PM.
  • Learn company policies and perform activities with professional ethics.

Job description

Mid-sized NJ Architecture and Engineering firm seeks full time assistant architectural project manager for work on mixed use and multi-family design and construction projects. The assistant architectural project manager will be responsible for working alongside project managers assisting with all responsibilities related to the project design, detailing, and construction of projects undertaken by the firm.This team member participates in all stages of the project including preliminary design, planning and approvals, construction documents, and construction phase administration. The candidate should have a particular sense and care for architectural design and detailing, a general understanding of the governing building codes, strong graphic and communication skills, and time management skills.Work will include site analysis, project design, drafting, sketching, and modeling of designs, development of project details and documents, and assisting in the construction phase administration of assigned projects under the guidance of the project manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The assistant architectural project manager shall be responsible to effectively execute various tasks and responsibilities under the guidance of the project manager including but not limited to the following:

  • Analysis of project context, building materials, and precedents.
  • Conceptual and preliminary design of building in plan, section, and elevation.
  • 3D visualization of design concepts through various mediums including but not limited to hand sketching, computerized renderings, and physical models.
  • Assist in project site planning, zoning/local code analysis, and application.
  • Assist in design and drafting of details, architectural systems, and components of multi-family, mixed-use and commercial buildings.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, technical documentation, and schematics
  • Attends meetings with owners, clients, or consultants with project manager as needed.
  • Assists in preparing presentations for clients.
  • Assists the design team in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines.
  • Executes specific architectural studies and design analyses using industry software.
  • Accompanies project manager in documenting project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
  • Learns to understand company technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients.Assists and performs activities inside and outside the organization consistent with ethical standards described in the company handbook.
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. degree in Architecture
  • 0 to 1 year experience with another architecture or engineering firm. Experience with mixed use and/or multi-family projects a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and the Adobe Design Suite.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn the basics of architectural design and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, structures, systems, construction materials, and specifications.
