Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services in Raleigh, NC is seeking a creative Architectural Designer to join our growing team. You’ll work on projects from concept through construction, using Revit and other tools, collaborating across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of professional experience, an accredited architecture degree, strong detailing skills, and excellent communication. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Architecture; Master’s degree a plus.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in architectural design.
• Proficiency in Revit, BIM coordination, and construction documentation.
• Strong knowledge of design, detailing, materials, and construction methods.
• Familiarity with building codes and cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Experience preparing construction documents and technical detailing.
• Strong communication and ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support all design phases from conceptual to construction documents.
• Create design drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and 3D models using Revit.
• Coordinate documentation with structural, civil, landscape, MEP, and other consultants.
• Assist Project Architects and Managers with planning, scheduling, and deliverables.
• Research codes, zoning, accessibility, and life-safety requirements and apply to docs.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors in various meeting formats.
• Participate in QA/QC reviews across design and documentation phases.
• Perform site visits, field verifications, and existing conditions documentation.
• Assist with construction administration activities: RFIs, submittals, punch lists, site reports.
• Create presentation graphics, renderings, diagrams, and client presentation materials.
• Mentor interns and junior designers; contribute to a collaborative team.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, materials, and building systems.
