Job summary

HDR’s Atlanta studio seeks an Architectural Design Intern to contribute to healthcare, water, and master planning projects. You will work alongside architects, project managers, and other professionals to develop drawings, models, and presentation graphics.

This part-time, temporary position offers mentoring through HDR’s employee-owned culture and exposure to regenerative design and sustainable materials, while supporting project teams with real assignments.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience working on healthcare, water, and master planning projects.
  • Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring programs and our Young Professionals Network.
  • Work under the guidance of architects, project managers, and other professionals on real assignments.
  • Participate in the full design process, developing alternative solutions and creating presentation graphics to communicate concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on design development, including drawings and models, and assist production teams with technical details and construction documents.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support project success.

As an Architectural Design Intern, you will:
  • Gain hands-on experience working on exciting projects, including healthcare, water, and master planning.
  • Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring programs and our Young Professionals Network.
  • Work under the guidance of architects, project managers, and other professionals on real assignments.
  • Participate in the full design process, developing alternative solutions and creating presentation graphics to communicate concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on design development, including drawings and models, and assist production teams with technical details and construction documents.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support project success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry (including Rhino)
  • Experience and/or interest in low-carbon and healthy materials
  • Experience and/or interest in regenerative design/LBC
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED/SDGs
  • Experience and/or interest in Fitwel/WELL
  • Experience and/or interest in AIA Framework for Design Excellence
  • Preference given to local candidate.
