Job summary

HDR in Atlanta invites an Architectural Design Intern to join our growing studio and contribute to regenerative and carbon-balanced building portfolios by 2030.

As part of HDR's Architecture practice, you will assist in the design and delivery of spaces that advance community well-being, working with architects, project managers, and other professionals on real assignments.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Interest in architecture and design processes with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with project teams.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Rhino is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience on healthcare, water, and master planning projects.
  • Assist architects and project managers on real assignments.
  • Contribute to presentation graphics and design development.

HDR is seeking an Architectural Design Intern to join our growing Atlanta studio and support our commitment to achieving

a regenerative and carbon-balanced building portfolio by 2030.

At HDR, internships are an essential opportunity for emerging designers to gain experience and build knowledge.

As an Architectural Design Intern, you will:
  • Gain hands-on experience working on exciting projects, including healthcare, water, and master planning.

  • Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring programs and our Young Professionals Network.

  • Work under the guidance of architects, project managers, and other professionals on real assignments.

  • Participate in the full design process, developing alternative solutions and creating presentation graphics to

communicate

concepts to clients and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate on design development, including drawings and models, and assist production teams with technical details

and construction documents.

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support project success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPA

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry (including Rhino)

  • Experience and/or interest in low-carbon and healthy materials

  • Experience and/or interest in regenerative design/LBC

  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED/SDGs

  • Experience and/or interest in Fitwel/WELL

  • Experience and/or interest in AIA Framework for Design Excellence

  • Preference given to local candidate.
