Job summary

HDR, a leading architecture firm, seeks an Architectural Design Coordinator for our Atlanta studio. You will contribute to design and delivery across healthcare, educational, civic, and research facilities, supporting a regenerative building portfolio and sustainable practices.

You will collaborate with architects, project managers and specialists, applying techniques and coordinating documents. This role emphasizes mentorship, diverse project exposure, and advancing toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
• Must possess credentials to obtain future registration.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools.
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventual registration.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
• Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience on healthcare, water, and master planning projects.
• Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring programs and our Young Professionals Network.
• Work with architects, project managers, and other professionals to apply architectural techniques and modify construction documents.
• Perform architectural assignments with general instruction from the Project Architect or Project Manager.
• Write specifications covering architectural matters and conduct code reviews.
• Assist other coordinators or technicians and support all phases of the architectural process.

HDR is seeking an Architectural Design Coordinator to join our growing Atlanta studio and support our commitment to achieving a regenerative and carbon-balanced building portfolio by 2030. At HDR, Design Coordinators join the professional ranks of designers to gain experience and build knowledge prior to licensure.

As an Architectural Design Coordinator, you will:

• Gain hands-on experience working on exciting projects, including healthcare, water, and master planning.
• Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring programs and our Young Professionals Network.
• Work under the guidance of architects, project managers, and other professionals to evaluate, select and apply architectural techniques, procedures and modifications to architectural construction documents
• Perform architectural assignments with only general instruction from the Project Architect or Project Manager regarding the expected results
• May work directly with owners/clients to select and recommend procedures - Write specifications covering architectural matters and perform code reviews
• Assist Project Architects, other Architectural Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and take responsibility for work in all phases of the architectural process

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture
• Experience in the areas of healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities -
• Experience and/or interest in low-carbon and healthy materials
• Experience and/or interest in regenerative design/LBC
• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED/SDGs
• Experience and/or interest in Fitwel/WELL
• Experience and/or interest in AIA Framework for Design Excellence
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max
• Rhino and Grasshopper experience
• Local candidates preferred.
