Job summary

Templar Shield is seeking a senior ServiceNow IRM Architect to lead the design and delivery of scalable IRM solutions for enterprise clients. You will translate complex risk, regulatory, and technical requirements into scalable solution architectures, integrations, and automation aligned with ServiceNow leading practices.

You will work with stakeholders across risk, compliance, internal audit, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, technology, finance, and operations, providing architectural direction

Qualifications

• Five or more years of ServiceNow platform experience, including IRM.
• Experience leading enterprise ServiceNow implementations through discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and adoption.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; CSA certification required.

Job description

The ServiceNow IRM Architect leads the design and delivery of scalable ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management solutions for enterprise clients. The Architect translates complex business, risk, regulatory, and technical requirements into solution architectures, implementation strategies, workflows, integrations, reporting, and automation aligned with Templar Shield standards and ServiceNow leading practices.

The Architect works directly with stakeholders across risk, compliance, internal audit, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, technology, finance, and operations. This role provides architectural direction throughout discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and adoption while helping clients establish and mature sustainable governance, risk, compliance, audit, and resilience programs.

This is a senior, technical, client-facing consulting role that provides design authority, leads Engineers, and works with Managers to ensure successful delivery. The Architect also helps clients evaluate and implement AI-enabled IRM capabilities using ServiceNow Otto, AI Control Tower, intelligent automation, and agentic workflows. These capabilities must be designed with appropriate security, privacy, governance, explainability, human oversight, and responsible-use controls.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

Client Consulting and Solution Leadership

• Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, maturity assessments, design sessions, and solution reviews with business, technical, and executive stakeholders.
  
• Develop a clear understanding of each client’s business objectives, risk and compliance obligations, governance structure, operating model, technology environment, program maturity, and desired outcomes.
  
• Translate complex business, risk, regulatory, operational, and technical requirements into scalable solution architectures, implementation strategies, roadmaps, and future-state operating models.
  
• Serve as a trusted advisor by explaining architectural options, technical dependencies, implementation risks, design tradeoffs, and recommended approaches to client stakeholders.
  
• Maintain alignment among client stakeholders, Managers, Engineers, product teams, and third-party vendors throughout solution design and delivery.
  

ServiceNow IRM Architecture and Delivery

• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of ServiceNow IRM solutions across Risk Management, Policy and Compliance Management, Audit Management, Third-Party Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, Operational Resilience, Regulatory Change Management, Issues Management, and related capabilities.
  
• Define solution architecture across IRM applications, including data models, security, risk taxonomies, control structures, assessment methodologies, issues, indicators, approvals, workflows, integrations, and reporting.
  
• Determine the appropriate use of out-of-the-box functionality, configuration, integration, automation, or custom development based on client requirements and ServiceNow leading practices.
  
• Provide architectural oversight and targeted hands-on support across ServiceNow IRM applications while guiding Engineers responsible for configuration, development, testing, and deployment activities.
  
• Advise clients on governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, internal controls, policy management, audit, third-party risk, business continuity, operational resilience, and sustainable IRM program management.
  

Integration, Data, Reporting, and Automation

• Design integrations between ServiceNow IRM and enterprise platforms, data repositories, regulatory-content providers, risk and compliance tools, security technologies, financial systems, and other business applications.
  
• Define integration patterns, APIs, data mappings, transformation rules, reconciliation logic, synchronization schedules, error handling, monitoring, and support requirements.
  
• Develop data architecture and governance strategies that support accurate risk, control, policy, audit, issue, assessment, indicator, entity, and regulatory information across IRM applications.
  
• Define reporting and analytics strategies, including key performance indicators, key risk indicators, dashboards, data sources, audience-specific views, Performance Analytics, and executive reporting.
  
• Evaluate ServiceNow Otto, AI Control Tower, automation, and agentic workflow capabilities for IRM use cases while ensuring appropriate security, privacy, governance, explainability, human oversight, and responsible use.
  

Technical Leadership and Quality Assurance

• Develop and maintain solution architecture documents, integration designs, data models, process flows, functional specifications, architectural decisions, implementation guidance, and supporting technical documentation.
  
• Establish technical standards and review configurations, workflows, integrations, data models, automation, and reporting for security, scalability, performance, maintainability, and upgrade compatibility.
  
• Provide technical direction to Engineers and consultants, assign design and configuration activities, resolve complex technical issues, and validate completed work.
  
• Define solution acceptance criteria and oversee system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing, deployment readiness, production transition, and post-deployment stabilization.
  
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, assumptions, dependencies, and complex design issues and work with Managers and client stakeholders to develop mitigation plans and guide clients away from unnecessary customization.
  

Practice and Sales Support:

The ServiceNow IRM Architect supports Templar Shield’s business development and practice growth by providing solution leadership and subject-matter expertise throughout the sales process.

• Support Practice Leads in identifying, qualifying, shaping, and expanding ServiceNow IRM opportunities within new and existing client accounts.
  
• Participate in pre-sales discovery sessions, solution demonstrations, technical workshops, capability presentations, and executive discussions.
  
• Lead solution scoping and contribute to architecture approaches, staffing models, delivery plans, effort estimates, pricing inputs, proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  
• Develop solution approaches that clearly define scope, assumptions, dependencies, integration requirements, risks, staffing needs, and delivery estimates.
  
• Help develop reusable service offerings, implementation methodologies, reference architectures, integration patterns, demonstrations, accelerators, templates, and training materials.
  

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Candidates must demonstrate strong solution architecture, platform, and IRM knowledge, including:

• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow IRM applications, data models, workflows, workspaces, and related platform capabilities.
  
• Experience designing solutions across Risk Management, Policy and Compliance Management, Audit Management, Third-Party Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, Operational Resilience, Regulatory Change Management, Issues Management, or related applications.
  
• Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, application scope, data models, security, access controls, reporting, dashboards, and platform governance.
  
• Ability to evaluate requirements and determine the appropriate use of out-of-the-box functionality, configuration, integration, automation, or custom development.
  
• Experience designing IRM workflows, assessments, risk and control processes, policies, audits, issues, indicators, approvals, taxonomies, attestations, and related automation.
  
• Experience defining enterprise integration strategies using REST and SOAP web services, APIs, Integration Hub, MID Server, import sets, transform maps, and established ServiceNow integration patterns.
  
• Ability to develop reporting and analytics strategies, including key performance indicators, key risk indicators, dashboards, executive reporting, Performance Analytics, and supporting data sources.
  
• Experience reviewing solution designs, configurations, integrations, automation, and data models for security, scalability, performance, maintainability, and upgrade compatibility.
  
• Familiarity with data migration, Automated Test Framework, source control, application deployment, update management, release management, and ServiceNow upgrade practices.
  
• Familiarity with ServiceNow Otto, AI Control Tower, and AI-enabled or agentic workflow capabilities, including the governance, security, privacy, explainability, human oversight, and responsible-use considerations associated with their implementation.
  

Qualifications

• Five or more years of ServiceNow platform experience, including experience in a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or comparable architecture role, with at least three years focused on ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management.
  
• Experience leading enterprise ServiceNow implementations through discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and adoption.
  
• Experience leading stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, design sessions, solution reviews, and executive-level presentations.
  
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management, compliance, internal controls, policy management, audit, assessments, third-party risk, and related business processes.
  
• Experience coordinating multiple technical and functional workstreams and managing competing priorities and deliverables in a consulting environment.
  
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and resolve complex architectural issues.
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and functional concepts to business stakeholders, technical teams, and executive leadership.
  
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, mentor consultants and engineers, and provide solution guidance without direct people-management responsibilities.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business, Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
  
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification required
  
• Willingness to travel up to 50 percent based on client and project requirements.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Risk and Compliance, Certified Application Developer, or other relevant ServiceNow certifications.
  
• Experience implementing multiple ServiceNow IRM applications, including advanced, enterprise, or cross-application solutions.
  
• Experience conducting IRM maturity assessments, developing multiyear roadmaps, and designing governance programs, target operating models, or enterprise risk-transformation initiatives.
  
• Familiarity with regulatory and control frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, COSO, COBIT, PCI DSS, HIPAA, CIS Controls, and FFIEC.
  
• Experience supporting regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, technology, energy, utilities, telecommunications, or the public sector.
  
• Experience with related ServiceNow capabilities such as Security Operations, IT Service Management, IT Operations Management, CMDB, Privacy Management, AI Control Tower, or third-party governance, risk, and compliance platforms.
