Job summary

RS&H, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking an Architect II to join our growing Architecture Practice.

You will design corporate workplaces, financial institutions, and commercial environments, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams from planning through construction documentation. You will lead design efforts, manage client relationships, ensure code compliance, and mentor junior staff while contributing to the success of RS&H's Corporate Practice across the Chicago region.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional architectural experience with corporate workplace, commercial office, financial institution, or mixed-use project experience preferred.
• Active architectural licensure in good standing.
• Experience leading large-scale or multiple mid-sized projects through all phases of design and construction.
• Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, life safety requirements, and commercial design standards.
• Proficiency in architectural production software and construction documentation, including Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• A collaborative mindset with a passion for mentorship, problem-solving, and innovative design.
• The ability to navigate challenges with professionalism, creativity, and business acumen.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing client expectations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective corporate and commercial clients.
• Lead and contribute to the planning, design, and coordination of complex architectural projects from concept through construction.
• Prepare and oversee construction documents, specifications, presentations, and client deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver thoughtful, technically sound, and innovative design solutions.
• Guide projects through all phases of design and construction administration while helping maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to emerging professionals and junior staff.
• Participate in client meetings, design presentations, quality reviews, and construction site observations.
• Support business development efforts, proposal development, and client relationship management activities.
• Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented team culture.
