Job summary

ECM Consultants, an Aventia Company, seeks a full-time Architect to lead all architectural aspects from design through completion. You will develop designs, prepare specifications, and manage costs, schedules, and client relationships to deliver high-quality projects.

The role requires a Louisiana-licensed architect with a minimum of 10 years in construction-related fields, and experience supervising teams on state/public-sector projects is preferred.

Position Summary:

ECM Consultants is seeking a full-time Architect to lead and oversee all architectural aspects of construction projects, from initial planning and design through project completion. This role is responsible for developing designs, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, bid documents, and project reviews while ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards. Serving as the lead member of the project team, the Architect provides technical guidance throughout every phase of a project, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and maintains strong client relationships through consistent communication and collaboration. The primary objective of this position is to successfully deliver high-quality projects that meet client expectations, project goals, and organizational standards from start to finish.

Position Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Client Management
  • Collaborate with clients to develop designs that meet project requirements and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project lifecycles.
  • Lead project teams to ensure successful execution from planning and design through construction completion.
  • Coordinate activities across all project disciplines to maintain alignment with project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide leadership throughout all phases of project delivery.
Design & Technical Oversight
  • Review documented technical requirements, development plans, and project specifications to ensure adherence to defined standards.
  • Evaluate building plans and site designs for aesthetics, environmental suitability, accessibility, and code compliance.
  • Provide final specifications, approve ordered materials, and guide project objectives and design concepts.
  • Conduct field visits and perform construction administration responsibilities as needed.
Project Planning & Delivery
  • Assist with project bidding efforts and support the acquisition of new contracts.
  • Develop project budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress and address challenges to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain project architecture databases and documentation.
Team Development
  • Supervise project team members and provide guidance throughout project execution.
  • Deliver constructive feedback and coaching to improve team effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
  • Lead teams to achieve quality, productivity, and project goals.

QualificationsExperience/Education/Licensing & Certification Requirements:
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an architect within a construction-related field.
  • Must supervise all members of the team involved in the project.
  • Licensed Architect in the State of Louisiana.
Preferred
  • Experience with state and public-sector projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • NCARB Certification.
  • LEED Green Associate certification.
Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office setting with regular project site visits.

Employees routinely use standard office equipment, including computers, AutoCAD software, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other business tools. Field assignments may involve varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, and other non-standard environmental conditions depending on project requirements.

Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Navigate uneven surfaces and active construction sites.
  • Use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and operating equipment.
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.
  • Utilize close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision with the ability to adjust focus as needed.
