Job summary

WSP USA in Tempe, AZ is offering a Summer 2027 Archaeology Intern position within the Earth & Environment Team. This part-time internship provides hands-on exposure to fieldwork and documentation, with mentorship from senior staff during a 12-week program starting May 17, 2027.

You will support archaeology tasks, participate in data collection and reporting for projects in the U.S. Southwest, and complete field and office training while adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an Archaeology/Anthropology related Undergraduate, Masters or PhD program with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Strong interest in Archaeology and desire to contribute to WSP projects.
• Able to communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of following leadership and mentors and performing tasks.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and common software/tools.

Responsibilities

• Support archaeology tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Cultural Resource Management.
• Assist with project research, field work, and data collection and reporting for SW US projects.
• Update project documentation and collect field data.
• Complete field and office training on assigned tasks.

Archaeology Intern - Summer 2027

Tempe, AZ

Our Earth & Environment Team is seeking a part-time to work out of our office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Your Impact

• Support a variety of Archaeology related tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Cultural Resource Management.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary data analysis and reporting for projects in the U.S. Southwest.
• Assist in collecting field data and updating project documentation.
• Complete field and office training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Archaeology, Anthropology or related Undergraduate, Master's or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Archaeology or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft Office, ArcMap, ArcPro, Field Maps, and Survey123.
• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $21.74- $28.27
