Job summary

WSP USA is offering a Summer 2027 Environmental Science Intern position in Roseville, CA or San Francisco, CA. This 12-week program is designed for undergraduates or graduates to gain hands-on project experience while working with senior staff.

You will assist with field data collection, data analysis, and documentation, learning safety and ethical practices under WSP’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science or related undergraduate program with anticipated graduation date Aug 2027 or later.
• Interest in Environmental Science with desire to develop skills related to WSP’s projects.
• Competent communication skills when engaging with engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental science tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Assist field data collection, data analysis, and project execution.
• Collect and maintain project documentation.
• Attend training on assigned tasks and follow WSP’s safety policies.
• Travel occasionally as required by project needs.

Our Earth & Environment Team is seeking a full-time Environmental Science Intern - Summer 2027 to work out of our Roseville, CA or San Francisco, CA office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate program.

This 12-week internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program that is scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Your Impact

• Support a variety of environmental science tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Environmental Science.
• Assist with field data collection, data analysis, and assisting with project execution.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Required Qualifications

Who You Are

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Environmental Planner, Natural Resources or related, undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Environmental Science or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Environmental Planner, Natural Resources or related, master's degree or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Experience using Microsoft and Adobe tools.
• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $22.60 - $30.53

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
