Job summary

WSP USA Inc. seeks Part Time Archaeology Field Technicians in Tempe, AZ for field projects. Pay is determined by education and experience. Hotel rooms and per diem are provided for single occupancy. Projects may involve extended fieldwork in remote areas.

The role involves basic field techniques such as pedestrian surveys, shovel test surveys, and data recording using ESRI Arc Field Maps. Candidates should be prepared for long hours in challenging environments and weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) year minimum of archaeological field experience.
• Previous CRM field experience or academic archaeological field school.
• Knowledge of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in recording and documenting archeological sites and artifacts.
• Ability to learn local cultural history and material culture in project areas.
• Ability to work independently and complete personal assignments with minimal instruction.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work long hours in harsh environments and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to pass a drug test and maintain a drug-free environment.
• Must pass background check and motor vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support using basic archaeological field techniques for locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating sites.
• Support field surveys through pedestrian surveys and shovel test surveys.
• Use topographic maps, aerial photos, and ESRI Arc Field Maps for data collection and survey work.
• Work long hours in remote environments and in varying weather conditions.
• Collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
• Maintain a positive attitude, follow directions, and work independently when needed.
• Plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
