Your Opportunity

Your role will include assisting staff with report submittals and coordinating cultural resources fieldwork for various programs and clients, including archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, construction monitoring, report and section writing, Department of Parks and Recreation 523 site record forms, as well as other tasks as assigned. You must demonstrate awareness of workplace safety and be willing to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision. You will work closely with Stantec's project managers, laboratory resources, and environmental staff.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget.
  2. Interact and interface with clients and environmental regulators.
  3. Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards, and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
  4. Follow instructions from senior staff for complex assignments/projects.
  5. Plan and conduct assignments/projects with broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasks.
  6. Conduct or request records searches at CHRIS Information Centers, federal, state, and tribal agencies as needed.
  7. Assist with permitting applications (Organic Act, ARPA, USFS, BoR, BLM FWAs, state, tribal).
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  1. Knowledge of archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery methods.
  2. Ability to provide well-reasoned recommendations regarding site eligibility and integrity.
  3. Experience with construction monitoring.
  4. Technical writing skills.
  5. Ability to represent Stantec professionally with clients, agency personnel, and Native American tribal members.
  6. Experience coordinating with GIS staff, PIs, or project managers to collect and manage field data and forms.
  7. Commitment to HSSE policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  8. Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Education and Experience

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in Archaeology or a related field is preferred. No prior experience in Cultural Resource Management is required. Experience in California is preferred.

This position is primarily field-based. Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for extended periods (1+ weeks) is required. Fieldwork may involve exposure to the elements, including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. is necessary.

Some tasks may involve typical office activities, including working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods.
