Overview

Snyder & Associates has an immediate opening for an archaeologist. This is a new position that offers the candidate flexibility to create their own daily schedule and develop the role within the team.

Projects, both local and non-local, will be coordinated from our Ankeny office and include tasks such as communication between team sectors, project planning, management, supervising cultural resource inventories, assisting with compliance of laws and regulations, and report writing and review. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and organized.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare technical scopes of work, project budgets, RFPs, and technical reports.
  2. Assist with project management related to cultural resources investigations.
  3. Lead archaeological surveys, site recordation, and excavations (evaluations and data recovery).
  4. Prepare reports for Section 106 compliance and state regulations.
  5. Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies.
  6. Assist with Native American coordination efforts.
  7. Prepare NEPA cultural resources sections.
  8. Engage with clients and participate in meetings.
  9. Participate in trade organizations, conferences, and contribute technical papers.
  10. This role includes field work; travel and overnight stays are required.
Qualifications
  1. Master's degree or higher in Archaeology or a related field.
  2. Registered Professional Archaeologist preferred.
  3. At least 5 years of archaeological consulting or agency experience in the Midwest.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in technical documentation.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  7. Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
  8. Ready to perform field tasks and oversight.
  9. Knowledge of federal and Midwestern US state cultural resources regulations.
