Job summary

Terracon in Columbia, SC is seeking an Archaeological Field Technician to support surveys, testing, and excavations under a Crew Chief. You will help collect artifacts, document findings, and maintain safety on-site.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, completion of an accredited field school, and proficiency with GPS and MS Office. Valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
• Completion of an archaeological field school from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of artifact identification, soils, and stratigraphy.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office programs.
• Able to use Global Positioning Systems.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

• Identify artifacts and basic stratigraphy, recording information on standardized forms.
• Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed.
• Maintain equipment.
• Communicate basic information to Crew Chief or Archaeologist.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
