Job description

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is actively seeking On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians in the Central California Area, including Fresno and the Central Valley. Candidates must be within a commutable distance and able to support field work on-site as needed.

Who You Are
  1. You are an effective team member experienced in archaeological and/or paleontological monitoring, surveys, and documentation of archaeological and/or paleontological resources in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines. You live in Central Valley, California. Candidates from elsewhere in California will be considered if available to travel to remote work locations, including potential travel to Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona.
  2. You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in archaeology/anthropology/paleontology or a related field. You are proficient in app-based software for field recordation and mapping.
  3. You are familiar with working on active construction sites, completing DPR forms, and have a minimum of six months of field experience or relevant academic experience in Northern California.
  4. You enjoy working outdoors, capable of walking long distances carrying up to 50 lbs. of gear in various conditions, and are willing to work some nights and weekends.
  5. You possess a valid driver's license and have experience driving 4-wheel-drive vehicles off-road.
What You Will Do for ESA

Support field projects in Northern California as a Variable Part-Time (On-Call) archaeological technician, performing tasks such as:

  • Monitoring construction activities and identifying archaeological and/or paleontological resources;
  • Communicating effectively with construction crews and project personnel;
  • Maintaining detailed records using electronic data collection tools and GIS mapping applications.

Compensation

Pay ranges are tailored to geographic economic factors. For this role, the approximate range is $23.73 to $37.59 USD per hour, based on location, experience, education, and skills.
