Overview

Snyder & Associates has an immediate opening for an Archaeological Field Technician. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist. This is an on-call/as-needed role, with hours determined by weather conditions and project demand. The successful candidate will be reliable and flexible with availability during peak seasons (spring, summer, fall).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys in accordance with federal, state, and company standards
• Carry out shovel testing, excavation, and comprehensive site documentation
• Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features
• Assist with artifact identification, labeling, and cataloging
• Record accurate and detailed field notes, including maps, photographs, and standardized forms
• Participate in GPS data collection in the field under the supervision of Project Archaeologist
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications

• Archaeological field school or prior archaeological field survey experience
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain
• Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week when needed
• Working knowledge of archaeological survey protocols
• Ability to work in the field for extended periods
• B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field (advantageous)
